The colour is provided by anthocyanin and some versions may also contain apple pulp preserved with Sulphur Dioxide. The product contains gelatine, making it unsuitable for vegetarians and vegans. Although the flavour name includes milk, the official ingredient list and manufacturer information indicate that no dairy ingredients are used, and the flavour is derived from flavourings. The manufacturer, Swizzels, states that some of its products are made in a factory that handles nuts, milk, and other allergens, so cross-contamination is a potential risk for those with severe allergies.
